Construction Project Manager

We're growing. Join us and you will be too.

We’re looking for a Project Manager with 10 years of residential construction experience in the field (as a carpenter, lead carpenter, or site supervisor), and 5 years in a project management role.

We're an award-winning residential design/build company working in Portland, Maine, and its surrounding communities. We create beautiful, energy-efficient, sustainably-built custom homes and renovations.

We do things differently
For starters, we're majority women-owned and managed. As much as we admire people with mad skills, we don't hire for skills alone. We have a diverse, respectful, and positive work culture—and a fantastic team—and we're looking for people who really understand the value of that and want to be part of it.

We're invested in helping to move the building industry to more environmentally sustainable practices. We focus on high-performance building and carbon reduction. We're all in on building science and strive to use optimal techniques and materials. We're always learning. You will be too.

What we ask
You should be a good communicator, comfortable working collaboratively and committed to treating everyone in the company and our customers with respect. And no matter your role, you're expected to be organized, detail-oriented, and proactively solve problems. Our project managers need to be in the office on a weekly basis and able to regularly travel to job sites in the greater Portland area. Our office is based on Peaks Island, Maine, a 15-minute ferry ride from downtown Portland. The flexibility to work remotely from home occasionally may be considered depending on the location and status of current projects.

What we offer
We are a small, tightly knit team, so every person really counts. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with the firm's principals, while also having the autonomy to lead projects independently, with increasing responsibilities over time.

Compensation for this position is based on experience and qualifications, and will fall between $46 and $56 per hour. All employees receive paid vacations, holidays, health insurance, long and short term disability, life insurance, retirement contribution, ferry stipend, and professional education/training opportunities. We all appreciate having a healthy work/life balance.

Skills Needed

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects of varying size ($250,000 to $3,000,000) and complexity at the same time
  • Ability to develop and review project estimates and monitor project costs
  • Working knowledge of project management software and other technologies required for communication and tracking of project status
  • Ability to create and maintain project documentation and schedules throughout project development and construction phases
  • Experience overseeing jobsite safety and quality control processes
  • Solid understanding of, and ability to ensure adherence to, building performance standards

We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer
We recruit, employ, train, compensate, and promote regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected status as required by applicable law. People of color, trans and gender-nonconforming people, people from poor and working-class backgrounds, people in the LGBTQ+ community, and women are encouraged to apply.
